Rodent Control in Albuquerque's North Valley
The North Valley is the green strip along the Rio Grande north of downtown. Part of it sits inside city limits and part is an unincorporated area of Bernalillo County. It sits at about 4,994 feet, and from a lot of back yards you can watch the Balloon Fiesta go up.
Big lots, irrigation ditches, old cottonwoods, horse barns and gardens make it good rodent country. Calls from the valley are a mix of house mice in older homes, deer mice in sheds and barns, and pack rats in woodpiles and brush.
Barns, feed rooms and sheds
Grain and hay bring mice. Keep feed in metal cans with tight lids and sweep up spills. Store hay on pallets. If you keep chickens, the feed and the coop are a magnet. If bait gets used near animals, it belongs in locked stations out of reach of horses, dogs and cats. Mention every animal on the place when you call.

Older homes
Adobe and older frame homes settle and crack over time. Gaps open where stucco meets the foundation, around old window frames and where pipes come through. Rodent exclusion covers the sealing.
